Luxury Thailand boutique resort, The Sarojin, has created a beautiful and meaningful experience inviting couples to gain a direct appreciation of traditional Thai customs as they celebrate their union with a personal spiritual blessing from a Buddhist monk.

This special event commences at first light from the stunning resort which is set amongst peaceful gardens and gentle water streams, on the shores of the sparkling Andaman Sea in Khao Lak.

Couples will initially embark on a journey to present alms to monks as they leave their temples to walk through the nearby town in a ritual which has been undertaken for centuries. This is traditionally a way for monks to maintain ongoing contact with their community and for local folk to gain merit as they place rice and other foods into the alms bowls of the monks who later return to the temples with their collected food for breakfast.

The couple will then be chauffeured by luxury car to the nearby town and market to browse at their leisure before moving onto a pagoda to engage in Buddhist rituals. Couples will offer a basket of items to the monks in a sign of respect and the monk will return thanks with a blessing in which he will gently pour water over the couple to cleanse their spirits while chanting ancient Pali-Sanskrit  ‘mantras’. There will be time for reflection afterwards as the couple feels lightened and remarkably calmer following this simple yet spiritual ceremony.

A rare opportunity for couples to engage in a truly traditional Buddhist custom, ‘A Buddhist Blessing of Love at The Sarojin’ is priced at THB2200 (approximately AUD75) per couple. Rates at The Sarojin commence from THB6500 (approximately AUD222) per couple per night in a Garden Residence including all-day a la carte breakfast and sparkling wine.
