Removal of Quarantine Requirement for Travellers from NSW and ACT to Norfolk Island

Providing there are no major changes associated with the risk of community transmission of COVID-19 from people from New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory, existing blanket 14-day quarantine requirements will be removed for travellers from both of these locations visiting Norfolk Island from 1 October.

There are currently no active cases in the ACT and the level of community transmission in NSW remains very low.

NSW And ACT Declared Hotspots. Entry Passes Denied To Norfolk Island

The Norfolk Island Emergency Team has reviewed the current travel restrictions alongside the Queensland Government declaring all of New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory as hotspots from 1.00am on Saturday 8 August 2020.

The EMT and the Norfolk Island Regional Council permit screening process reference the hotspots listed on the Queensland Government website.

Restrictions for people arriving on Norfolk Island from New South Wales have been extended until 7 August 2020.

The quarantine restriction has been removed for people coming from the Australian Capital Territory and people continue to be able to travel from Queensland.

Changes to Planned Border Restrictions for Visitors to Norfolk Island

With the increase in COVID-19 cases in Victoria and uncertainty about the level of community transmission in NSW and ACT, the Emergency Management Team (EMT) has decided to exercise caution and postpone reopening Norfolk Island to visitors from NSW and ACT until Friday 24 July 2020. 

Visitors travelling from Victoria will not be permitted to travel to Norfolk Island until further notice.
